Attendance

Gila Crossing Families,

Please remember to call in each day that your student(s) will not be able to attend either in-person, if they are back on campus, or virtually.

We are obligated to abide by the attendance and truancy policies of both the Gila Crossing Community School Board of Trustees and the Gila River Indian Community.

The attendance office and Truancy Officer  send letters, do home visits, and ultimately file for truancy as expected  by these policies.

As printed in the Parent/Student Handbook:

Parent/Guardian and Student Responsibility – Students are expected to attend school every day.

Policy – Students will attend all classes and required meetings unless instructed not to by administration. ON-LINE INSTRUCTION IS CONSIDERED PART OF A REGULAR SCHOOL DAY AND ATTENDANCE WILL BE TAKEN AND ABSENCES WILL ACCUMULATE.

Students are required to report to school and classes, INCLUDING SCHEDULED ON-LINE CLASSES, on time and remain on the school campus, OR IN THE ON-LINE CLASSROOM, during regular school hours unless excused by school administration.

Parents/Guardians must provide a phone call or-in person visit to excuse a student’s absence. Other documentation (e.g., doctor’s note) is also accepted.

Documentation is required after 3 consecutive absences.

Reminder: Perfect (or “near perfect”) attendance is rewarded with special incentives.
